Free online dictionaries!

My friends, I have a confession to make. Learning languages makes me a happy penguin. However, it’s never been about money for me (although it does help with new career opportunities). Instead, it’s about unlocking different cultures and gaining a deeper understanding of the world. Once you become a polyglot, your access to information is literally limitless. And let’s not forget that communication is key in today’s society.

But do you know what makes me even happier? Using monolingual dictionaries to learn a language! Why? Because those focus on explaining the meaning of words in the target language, you’re not actually wasting time with translations. Besides, we all know things get lost in translation. Admittedly, monolingual dictionaries require a deeper level of knowledge/proficiency but the immersion is total.

Below is the complete list of online dictionaries I use on a regular basis as well as some pictures of physical dictionaries I still own to this day (one of which has seen better days).
